This week's progress in recycling events is as follows:
[50,000-mt lithium battery recycling project may land in Chongqing] Recently, the platform of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in Qijiang District, Chongqing, released a notice on the acceptance of the NEV battery recycling and comprehensive utilization project by Chongqing Lvjin Renewable Resources Comprehensive Utilization Co., Ltd. The project involves the comprehensive utilization of 50,000 mt of end-of-life lithium batteries from NEVs, including 10,000 mt of scrap ternary lithium batteries and 40,000 mt of scrap LFP batteries. After comprehensive treatment, the products will include 12,000t of lithium batteries, 3,336t of lithium carbonate, 1,954.25t of manganese sulphate, 2,157.21t of cobalt sulphate, 5,052.07t of nickel sulphate, and 7,140.33t of sodium sulphate.
[3,000-mt lithium battery project is coming] On June 18, Dazhong Mining announced that it plans to construct a "3,000-mt/year metal lithium battery new material project" in Linwu County, with a total investment of 1 billion yuan. Specifically, the project will be constructed in three phases to build a production line for metal lithium battery new materials. Phase I will be the scientific research stage, with the R&D, pilot-scale testing, and medium-scale testing of metal lithium battery new materials to be completed in 2025. Phase II plans to build a 1,000-mt/year production line for metal lithium battery new materials, with construction scheduled to start in April 2026 and be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027. Phase III plans to build a 2,000-mt/year production line for metal lithium battery new materials, with construction scheduled to start in June 2027 and be completed and put into operation by the end of 2028.
[20,000-mt LiPF6 project put into operation] Recently, the 2,000-mt/year LiPF6 construction project undertaken by China Construction Installation Group for Zhejiang Jianli Chemical was successfully put into operation in one go. This project is Phase I, implemented by Zhejiang Jianli Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jianli Chemical), with the construction site located in the Modern Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry Park of Xianju Economic Development Zone, Taizhou, Zhejiang. The total investment for the entire project is 5.18 billion yuan, and the production includes 20,000 mt/year of LiPF6, 5,000 mt/year of lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide, 2,000 mt/year of vinylene carbonate (VC), and 50,000 mt/year of lithium battery electrolyte, as well as by-products such as 100,498 mt/year of industrial hydrochloric acid and 7,204 mt/year of sodium sulphite. Except for the Phase I content that has been put into operation, the remaining parts will be implemented in Phase II.
[Phase I trial production of 50,000-mt lithium battery recycling project is imminent] Recently, it was learned from Xiangcheng News that the first production line of Phase I of the 50,000-mt/year LFP cathode material project by Hubei Ruipai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is about to undergo commissioning and production. It is understood that the project is located in Xiangcheng Economic Development Zone, Xiangyang, Hubei. As a key new energy industry project in Hubei Province, the project has a total investment of 2 billion yuan and will build a comprehensive recycling and utilization project for scrap lithium batteries and a regeneration project for lithium battery materials. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases, with Phase I constructing a 25,000-mt/year LFP cathode material production line.
[15,000-mt Lithium Battery Recycling Project in Meizhou Lands] Recently, the People's Government of Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, announced the acceptance of the environmental impact report for the new construction project of an annual 15,000-mt scrap lithium battery dismantling and recycling production line by Guangdong Dacheng Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The company plans to invest 130 million yuan to build the new production line for the annual 15,000-mt scrap lithium battery dismantling and recycling project beside National Highway 205 in Maotang Village, Xinpi Town, Xingning City (within Guangdong Honghe Advanced Materials Co., Ltd.). The project will only separate the main materials of scrap lithium-ion batteries through physical crushing and sorting methods.
[New Recycling Resource Circular Industry Base Commences Construction] On June 10th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Madianhe New Recycling Resource Circular Industry Base, the Vanadium Redox Flow Energy Storage System & Lead-Carbon Energy Storage System Madianhe New Energy Storage Manufacturing Base was held at the Madianhe New Energy Storage Industrial Park in Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province. Among them, the zinc-bromine redox flow energy storage base has a total investment of 3 billion yuan and will be constructed in three phases, with the first phase covering an area of 30 mu. The recycling resource circular industry base has a total investment of 1.7 billion yuan and will feature automatic robot transfer, a safety production platform with independent intellectual property rights. It will also be constructed in three phases, with the first phase covering an area of 30 mu, boasting advantages such as technological barriers, a green closed-loop system, and industrial synergy. Upon completion, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of 2 billion yuan.
[40,000-mt LMFP Project Arrives] Recently, the Mengxing Nano Project in the Tongguan Industrial Area of Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, Changsha, Hunan Province, is accelerating its construction progress, with the project expected to commence production and operation by the end of June this year. It is reported that the Mengxing Nano Construction Project has a total investment of approximately 350 million yuan, including 2 factory buildings, 1 office building, and supporting public auxiliary engineering, with a total construction area of 33,416.97 m².
[15,000-mt Scrap Lithium Batteries Arrive in Jieshou, Anhui Province] Recently, the People's Government of Jieshou City, Anhui Province, released the first public disclosure of environmental impact assessment information for the green and intelligent processing of scrap lithium batteries technological transformation project by Anhui Deying New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. This move marks another solid step forward in Anhui Province's efforts in the recycling of power lithium batteries. Upon completion, the project will have the capacity to annually process 5,000 mt of scrap lithium batteries and 10,000 mt of scrap lithium battery pole pieces, providing strong support for the efficient processing and resource recovery of scrap lithium batteries.
[50,000-mt Retired Power Battery Second-Life Application Project Lands] Recently, the Bengbu Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau of Anhui Province conducted a pre-approval public announcement for the "Environmental Impact Report for the Annual Production of 500 Energy Storage Product Containers, 500 Sets of Container Energy Storage Products, and the Second-Life Application of 50,000 mt of Retired Power Batteries Project (Phase I) by Anhui Guolan Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd."The advancement of this project has injected new vitality into the industrial development of Anhui province in the new energy sector. The project has a total investment of 120 million yuan and is planned to construct one production line for ESS containers, along with an intelligent storage system and an MES information traceability management system. It is expected to have an annual production capacity of 500 ESS containers upon completion, as well as the capability to second-life apply 50,000 mt of retired power batteries annually.
[The Implementation of a 10,000-mt-Scale Waste Lithium-ion Battery Processing Project in Xining City] Recently, the People's Government of Datong Hui and Tu Autonomous County, Xining City, Qinghai province, released the second public consultation information on the environmental impact report for the "Qinghai Haiding Group Qinghai Dingneng Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. Phase II Comprehensive Utilization Project for Hazardous and Solid Waste from Electrolytic Aluminum." The advancement of this project holds significant importance for local resource recycling and ecological environmental protection. The project is located on the north side of Qingping Road in Beichuan Industrial Park, Datong County, Xining City, with an investment of 220 million yuan. Upon completion, it will achieve an annual processing capacity of 80,000 mt of overhaul slag and 20,000 mt of carbon slag, producing 3,108 mt of industrial-grade lithium carbonate, 2,124 mt of potassium chloride, 8,934 mt of sodium chloride, 9,796 mt of sulfate mixtures (a mixture of sodium sulphate and potassium sulphate), 17,928 mt of dry impermeable materials, 2,084 mt of magnesium fluoride, 26,214 mt of graphite powder, 30,840 mt of regenerated electrolyte, and 8,000 mt of steel bars annually.
